You have woken in a small, bland hotel room. There is a note on the dresser. In type-writer font it informs you that you are on an island called Skelos, a guest, and you will make yourself comfortable as you are now a permanent resident. The writer says that "they" are pleased to have you and hope you will accept an apology that they could not be there to greet you personally, and that it was not possible to invite you properly.
The writer apologizes that can cannot return home and explains that attempting to reach anyone you knew is both forbidden and impossible. Which makes you wonder if it is really impossible, as well as where you are, and who brought you here. They go on to give a base description of the island and to suggest you become familiar with the map inside the left dresser drawer. They then explain that the bracelet around your wrist is to be used as a communication device between yourself and other residents. You can lock it to only certain members or you can reach an over-all public network with it. You cannot, however, remove or destroy it. Apparently it is made of a rare foreign mineral which is indestructible. This probably makes you want to find a way to remove it, as well as seek out those other 'residents.'
Next the letter warns you that everything you say will be monitored by the facilitators, and recorded for security and observation purposes. It also warns about a group called Las Umbras, though it tells you nothing in detail or about their origin. But you are given red-outlined areas of the map which are labeled danger-zones for reasons relating to 'architectural integrity issues', yellow for 'chemical hazard zones' and purple for recorded 'heightened Las Umbras activity.'
Overwhelmed, perhaps, among other emotions, you notice a backpack with first aide and survival essentials, and that the bathroom has, at least, running water. Will you hide in your room til you run out of food? Til someone breaks in? Til your bracelet begins to act suspiciously? Because it is important to note, after 24 hours of inactivity - the 1 hour warning gives further detail - your bracelet will detonate. Will you make allies? Hunt implanted wildlife? Attempt to locate Las Umbras, or the facilitators? Each choice is yours. Each choice has consequences. Each choice unravels the plot of discovering why you are here. Each choice could be your last. So choose wisely, take nothing at face value, and discriminate with who you chose to trust. Please read inside for FAQ and further details.
